Day 1 : « The Dordogne Valley »
On arrival, set out and discover the medieval city of Sarlat. After lunch visit Château de Castelnaud (12th century) and its museum of War in the Middle Ages. Follow this visit with a commented cruise on a scow on the Dordogne River, from which you can admire many of the castles in the area. Dinner and night at the hotel.
Day 2 : "The capital of the Périgord, beautiful villages and the black diamond"
Let yourself be guided through the protected area of Périgueux: from the Mataguerre tower, the last tower of the rampart to the medieval district. You will continue your walk on the road to Santiago de Compostela which will lead you to the Cathedral of Saint Front and its cloister. Depart for the truffle country: Sorges, where after lunch, the Ecomuseum of this highly sought-after mushroom will introduce you to the truffle in all its forms. Before returning to the hotel, you will stroll through the heart of the green Venice of Périgord, Brantôme, and of Saint-Jean de Côle, both of which are classified as one of the " most beautiful villages in France ". Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.
Day 3 : "The Vézère Valley, a UNESCO world heritage site
Marvel at the replica of the world’s most famous cave, Lascaux II before setting off after lunch to discover the “Valley of Prehistory” with a halt at Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère, "plus beaux villages de France" before visiting La Roque Saint-Christophe. These natural cavities were occupied by prehistoric man (-55000 years) and modified to become a fort and city from the Middle Ages until the beginning of the Renaissance. Dinner and night at the hotel.
Day 4 :"Discover the home of Cyrano and its Vineyards"
After a a guided tour of the centre of Bergerac, Monbazillac castle will introduce you to its golden nectar. After a gourmet lunch in a local farmhouse inn you will visit a vineyard in Pecharmant, one of the 13 appellations in Bergerac, followed by a tasting. Your stay will conclude with a visit to the Ecomuseum of Paper at Couze Saint Front, this still working mill produces paper from pure linen, hemp and Cotton using traditional techniques.
